Preston vs Cardiff: match facts, form and head-to-head – 1 May 2027

Preston host Cardiff in what promises to be a crucial showdown for two struggling sides, with the Lions perched at 23rd place on three points after one win and six defeats, while the Bluebirds sit just two spots above them with four points from four draws and three losses. Both teams will be desperate to reverse their poor runs – Preston’s goal deficit of 13‑6 starkly contrasts with Cardiff’s slightly tighter 11‑7 record, highlighting the defensive frailties that could decide the encounter. A victory for either side would not only lift them off the bottom of the table but also widen the gap between the two, turning this fixture into a potential six‑point swing in the relegation battle. The match therefore carries extra weight, as both clubs look to snap their winless streaks and climb out of the league’s lower echelons.
